From the Business Manager's Desk:
I wish all of you and your family a happy and prosperous New Year. Our work is about break, make
sure your MOST drug test is up to date and you can be reached at all times, after hours and
weekends included.
I have told many of you that there will be a lot of Supervision opportunities for those that put
forth the effort to being the best they can be at the Craft.
The Common Arc Testing in December was a great improvement compared to the last one we had
in 2008. Of the 123 weld tests that were given Local 92 achieved a 65.8% pass rate, we more than
doubled our combined pass rate achieved in 2008, but we still have room to improve on our
welding skills. The Contactor turnout was larger than expected which tells me that there is
growing interest in Local 92 and the jurisdiction we cover. Remember to always be ready and stay
sharp so you do not miss that weld test for a job that you and your family are counting on. If you
are a Welder and need to brush up on your skills, do it now before it is too late!!!
Great job and keep up the good work!!!
I would like to remind you that the San Diego Building Trades unanimously passed a resolution to
assess each member of each Craft $20.00 to head up a fight against the ABC their anti-PLA
initiatives in San Diego and Sacramento, they are helping to stop these initiatives that the ABC is
backing. We must stop their Union Busting lobbyist agenda and all-out assault on the working
class before it spreads across California. We cannot afford to let this happen to San Diego or
anywhere in California. At the November 12th Meeting we made a commitment as a Brotherhood
of Boilermakers to the San Diego Building Trades of $20.00 per member, Boilermakers man for
man are always the best at honoring our commitments and not letting any other craft pick up the
slack for us. If you have not given yet, Please do.
Thank you to those that have given and to those that have given more than the minimum, I look
forward to your continued support on this effort.
Fraternally, Mark

The latest Western States Contract requires that, in order to
be dispatched, all Boilermakers must be Drug Tested, MOST
OSHA Safety Trained, and Respirator Fit. As of March 31, 2010,
MOST no longer pays for the Respirator Fit Test.
The nearest clinic to Local 92, that can do both the drug test
and respirator fit test, is in San Bernardino. Some clinics do
not have equipment to perform the respirator fit test. Call
before you go to your clinic of choice.
If Local 92 sends paperwork to you, please fill it out, and
return it as soon as you receive it.

"Just Say NO!" Take Action!
It's hard to believe, but they're back: not just 1 but 3 NAFTA-style trade agreements may be up for a vote in the House and Senate as early as mid-July. Negotiated under President Bush, Congress is considering passing agreements with South Korea, Colombia and Panama. The agreement with South Korea would be the second largest after NAFTA, and poses a real threat to American manufacturing jobs. Trade unionists and workers' rights activists continue to be murdered in Colombia, with no end in sight. And Panama is a haven for corporate tax cheats. With unemployment unacceptably high and a still sluggish economic recovery, what we don't need is more of the same flawed trade agreements that will only encourage corporations to off-shore more U.S. jobs. Please contact Congress today and tell them to vote NO on President Bush's leftover trade agreements that do not support American workers and American manufacturing and certainly don't level the playing field.
